Home at Last!

HOME!!!
Well, we were in the hospital since Tuesday night, but after a LONG 5 day stay, we are home! We checked into the hospital for me to be induced Tuesday afternoon, had Kade 2 minutes into Thursday morning, thought we were going to be leaving Saturday morning, but ended up staying until Sunday afternoon. Friday night, Kade started developing a little jaundice, and Saturday, the doctor decided we needed to keep him in the nursery for about 24 hours under the Bili Lights to try and get rid of the jaundice.

Kade - under the Bili Lights
When he was under the lights, he would jump and his arms and legs would reach out as far as they could. He looked like he was playing one of those virtual reality video games...the ones where they wear the big helmet and fight and shoot stuff. It was pretty funny to watch him dreaming.

This was taken after Kade had been under the Bili Lights for several hours. You could already tell a difference in his skin. He had a little Zoro mask from where the glasses were on his face.

Sleeping with his mama. We were trying to catch him smiling, but every time Lance would get the camera, Kade would stop.

Wide awake - getting a little kiss from Dierk. Neither one of them are too sure what to think!

Kade Everett Carlson

Well - after a long haul, he is finally here! We checked into the hospital in Wichita Falls at 4pm on Tuesday afternoon. At 4:30am Wednesday, they started the pitocin (to induce contractions). At about 10:30pm Wednesday night, the doctor had me start pushing, but no baby until an hour and a half later! Kade was finally born at 12:02am Thursday 04/23/2009.First Picture

Waiting on a baby...

The nursery is complete, minus a baby!I painted these wooden letters from Wal-Mart, then used modge podge to glue scrapbooking material to the front of them. They turned out so good! The little wooden cars in front were on the diaper cake that my sister made for the baby shower...I thought they were too cute to throw away so I kept these 3 and put them up on this shelf for now.

This is a picture of the room from the doorway. I love how everything came together! The chair rail is a little higher than I expected, but I wanted it above the crib...the only downfall is that everything has to hang so high...I can't see myself in the mirror without standing on my very tip toes!! The changing table pad overtakes the dresser, but it was a free dresser and I didn't have anything else that the pad would fit on. I LOVE the frog hanging to the left of the window...I have stocked it with all of the diaper changing needs.

The Crib Wall...The crib was not my first pick - unfortunately they discontinued it before it was time for us to get a crib. :( But my dad found this one and it worked out perfectly! My 12 year old sister Jordan made the quilt for Kade - the little elephant was a pillowcase that came with a duvet cover I had found at Ikea...It looks perfect on the quilt and pulls the bedding together with all the pictures on the walls.

A close up of the crib and bedding. My mom hand made all of the bedding - It is EXACTLY how I pictured it turning out. One of a kind, just like I wanted it to be! The little frog in the corner plays music when you pull his tail, it's so soft and sweet.

I still need to hang the chinese lanterns over the chair...I don't know how they will look though, so they may not stay. When I was ordering the lanterns online, they were 5", 8" & 12"...my dumb self thought that was the height, but it turned out that was the diameter. CRAP! So the 2 black ones, that should have been 12" long, are 12" wide and about 20" long! I will not be using those 2...

Close-ups of the pictures on the wall over the bookshelf/chair...

And another one...
And the last one!
I LOVED these pictures as soon as I saw them online. I knew that it was meant to be when I was in Dallas visiting my aunt and she took me to Ikea...where I found the rug to match. I have cought a lot of flack about the black and white, but I think now that it is all put together, people will not think I am so crazy...if they do, they can have their own baby! :)

This is the chair that I got in place of a glider...it is from Ikea, and it is like the fabric was made for Kade's nursery! The chair does not rock or glide, but it bounces, and I think that is enough, I'm the one going to be using it, and I think it is more comfortable than some of the gliders I was going to sit in...also it was half the price of a cheap glider! (2 THUMBS UP THERE!)

Kade's closet and his hospital bag - all ready to go when he is!

The closet came pre installed with an AWESOME closed organizer...there are shelves to the left as well, but they aren't visible in this picture...The shelves in front are now filled with blankets, diapers and wipes. A few more clothes have been added to the racks, which are awesome because they are sorted by size...no guess work for mom and dad!

This is by far the favorite thing I have bought...well Lance's mom and dad paid, THANK YOU! I love the giraffe print padding in the car seat, and the stroller that matches has the same fabric.

Dierk the Wonder Dog

What does Dierk think?
Well of course Dierk loves his new house! We have been dog-sitting Maverick - the seller's black lab - for the past couple weeks for them until they are able to move into their house in a week or two. We normally leave Dierk outside to play all day, then bring him in and bathe him before bed...as soon as we bring him in, he passes out. I have been leaving him inside for the past few days, and he sits on the back of the couch watching the birds and squirells outside. If he get's tired, that's where he'll sleep - pretty cute. I feel bad not leaving him outside, but there are tics, so until we get the yards sprayed, we have to bathe him every night, which gets old.

First Time Home-Owners

First house - Isn't it cute?
We bought our first house this month, moved in March 29th, closed on April 7th! It is the perfect starter home for us...3 bedrooms, 1 bath, 1 car semi-detached garage with a carport, big backyard for the furry child, hard wood floors, and of course - no screaming neighbors to have to listen to while we sleep!
We love our house. I have finally gotten pictures on the walls in the living room, curtains hanging in the kitchen and in our bedroom, and Kade's room is complete, minus a baby.
As soon as the rest of the house is put together, I will have to take some pictures of the inside.
